Every year in August the club hosts the Canberra Sled Dog Classic. This has traditionally been the last race for the season and many mushers spend a few days in Canberra either side of the weekend.
It is one of the largest races on the circuit. The dedication and effort that our club members put into this race makes it extremely successful and most mushers come back year after year.
The CSDC will again be hosting the race in Kowen Forest, Sutton Road, Queanbeyan. Not only is this one of the largest races on the national circuit but this year marks it as being the inaugural ASSA National Championship Race.
Come along and watch the dogs and mushers this year at our 12th annual race on the 16th & 17th August 2008. Racing commences at 7.00 am and there will be a gold coin collection at the gate and all proceeds from this will go to the RSPCA.

2003 - Sue Bond and her big fuzzy pups having a chat with
Andrea Close.
The Canberra Sled Dog Classic is
on this weekend, with the keenest mushers and their dogs from around the nation
bolting around the ACT's dirt tracks. Instead of using
skis, they have wheels. And instead of rewarding the dogs with chunks of seal
blubber, they're more likely give them a slab of roo meat.
Other than that, it's the same as racing dogs on the snow. And don't the huskies
love it!
Sue Bond from the Canberra Sled Dog Club came in to visit the 666 Afternoons
show with two of her dogs, Winifred and Strider. Below you can see Sue with her
team in racing harness, and our own Andrea Close getting up close and personal
with the dogs.
